Quirky Characters – Franklin Harrison

Age 10 Male

Appearance – Franklin is an average looking kid with brown eyes and hair.  There is nothing overly remarkable about his looks except his eyes seem to bore into your soul.  Franklin wears only the best clothes available.   His preferred outfit is a collared shirt over a t-shirt with a funny or ironic statement on it, intentionally torn jeans and his expensive basketball shoes.

Demeanor –  Franklin is haughty, arrogant and self-indulgent doing whatever he pleases.  Beneath that, he feels isolated because of what he does and empty because he cannot know if anyone or thing in his life really cares for him or if it’s just his power.   Lately, another emotion has taken hold, fear.  He is convinced someone or thing is coming for him.

Background –  Franklin grew up like any other kid until age 5 when he was kidnapped.  Not knowing what to do he started talking.  His speech made the man drive himself to the police station and turn himself in.  Something seemed strange so he asked the detective watching him if he would go kill the man so he couldn’t hurt anyone again.  The detective left the room and moments later two shots rang out.  The man was dead, and the policeman went to jail for murder.

Franklin knew it was all his fault and didn’t dare speak lest he cause more damage.  For a year he would not utter a word,  until one day he saw a small kitten in the rain.  It was scrawny and helpless.  Franklin asked if they could save the cat and his mother agreed.

Requests became more frequent and soon he had every toy he could want.   When his parents said they needed more money, he went to a bank and asked to withdraw money from the account of Marcus Brendleburg, the richest man in town and they did it no question.  When the man tracked him down,  Franklin talked him into supporting his family and making him his heir.

Once at school, a bully pushed him and Franklin talked him into going to the teacher’s lounge naked, and he did.  While he had his every whim satisfied he felt alone because he could never have a discussion with others, and he could be friends with anyone but would never know if they actually like him.

Then the dreams began.  A shadowy figure called out his name, at first from a distance but it seemed to be coming closer every night,  He talked his parents into buying him a gun and he carried it everywhere.  Finally, last night the figure said “I found you!”  Franklin woke up in a cold sweat, knowing he was in danger but not knowing who or what it is.

so what do you think happens to Franklin? If you have an idea share it below.

  1. Perhaps Franklin is found by a manifestation that proves his fears right: people only care for him because his requests make them. And maybe, rather than causing this to make him change his ways, he only tries to use those around him to insulate him from this figure.
